Manchester saw Kevin Durant play in 2013. What it has never seen is an NBA game with a win at stake in the league standings. That changes on 17 January, when the NBA Manchester Game 2027 brings the San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Pelicans to Co-op Live for a rematch just three days after they meet in Paris.. On 8 October 2013, a crowd of 13,472 watched the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Philadelphia 76ers 103–99 at the Phones 4u Arena. Durant scored 21 points and contributed 12 assists, but it was Reggie Jackson who led Oklahoma City with 29 points. It was a close finish for the Manchester crowd.

January brings a different kind of pressure. A win at Co-op Live will carry exactly the same weight in the Western Conference standings as a win back in San Antonio or New Orleans. The NBA counts Manchester as the 20th game involving an NBA team in England since 1993, but only the second in this city.

The NBA Europe Games 2027 begin at Accor Arena in Paris on 14 January. For French supporters, it is a homecoming for Wembanyama; for the Pelicans, it is their first game in France. Manchester hosts the return fixture on Sunday. Both games are part of the regular season.

That short turnaround gives fans following both NBA international games a reason to watch beyond the score. A defender who struggles with Williamson in Paris might get help earlier in Manchester. A Spurs guard who finds an open route to the basket on Thursday may find it closed on Sunday.
