X Games 2027 is entering a completely new chapter. For the first time, the winter competition will become a season-long league travelling across three destinations: Aspen, Calgary and Ruka – with athletes competing for individual results as well as points for their X Games Clubs.
Running from January to April 2027, the new season combines elite skiing and snowboarding with a major live music programme featuring names including Marshmello, Steve Aoki, ZHU and Adriatique. For fans planning to experience X Games in person, there is now more than one weekend, and more than one atmosphere to choose from.
X Games 2027 Schedule
The inaugural MoonPay X Games League Winter Season begins at the longtime home of Winter X Games in Aspen before travelling to Canada and Finland.
Aspen opens the season from January 29 – 31, Calgary follows from February 19 – 21, and Ruka hosts the championship finale from April 9 – 11. The detailed discipline-by-discipline X Games 2027 schedule and competition timings are still expected closer to each stop.

Why X Games 2027 Feels Different
This is more than X Games simply adding two new destinations. In 2027, skiers and snowboarders will still compete for individual medals, but every result can also contribute points toward a season-long club championship.
Four winter clubs: XC Golden State, XC New York, XC Park City and XC Whistler – will compete throughout the season with rosters combining men and women across skiing and snowboarding. That means a podium in Aspen now has consequences beyond one weekend: the points carry forward to Calgary before the championship is ultimately decided in Finland.

Aspen: The Classic X Games Experience
X Games Aspen 2027 returns to Buttermilk Mountain from January 29–31 and remains the most recognisable stop on the calendar. This time, however, Aspen also has the significance of opening the first-ever X Games League winter season.
Names currently highlighted ahead of the event include Eileen Gu, Mark McMorris, Alex Hall, Scotty James and Zeb Powell, while the nightlife programme brings ZHU on Friday and Marshmello on Saturday. For anyone looking for the traditional mountain atmosphere mixed with the excitement of a brand-new format, Aspen is likely to feel like the natural starting point.

X Games Calgary 2027 arrives at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park from February 19–21, marking the first X Games competition held in Canada.
By Calgary, the opening results from Aspen will already have established the first club standings, giving the second stop more championship context. The music programme also adds another reason to stay beyond the competition, with Levity performing Friday and Steve Aoki taking over Saturday night.

The season ends with X Games Ruka 2027 from April 9 – 11 at Ruka Ski Resort in Finland. As the final stop, Ruka will determine the first XGL Winter champion and give the new league its first proper championship weekend.
It is also the only European stop of the inaugural season. Combined with a Saturday performance from Adriatique, Ruka offers a noticeably different atmosphere from Aspen and Calgary, and arguably the highest stakes of all three weekends.

The new club format becomes much more interesting once you look at the athletes involved. Olympic champion Eileen Gu became the No. 1 selection in the inaugural Winter Draft and joins XC Golden State, while Mark McMorris represents XC New York.
XC Park City includes names such as Yiming Su, Cocomo Murase, Birk Ruud and Alex Hall, while XC Whistler features athletes including Megan Oldham, Mac Forehand, Gaon Choi and Valentino Guseli. Individual results will still matter, but the new format gives every podium another layer: how much has it changed the club championship?

X Games After Dark
The other major part of X Games 2027 happens once the daytime competition begins to wind down. Aspen brings ZHU and Marshmello, Calgary features Levity and Steve Aoki, while Adriatique performs during the Ruka finale.
That music lineup pushes the event closer to a winter festival experience rather than a standard sports weekend. You can spend the day watching some of the world’s leading ski and snowboard athletes, then transition into major live performances at night without leaving the wider X Games atmosphere.
For visitors choosing between the three stops, the decision may therefore come down to more than sport. Aspen offers the classic X Games setting, Calgary delivers a historic Canadian debut and one of the season’s biggest music names, while Ruka combines a European ski destination with championship-deciding action.
